Every single lesson counts and helps students learn. That’s why it’s so important to be in school every day.
The link between achievement and attendance is clear. National figures show that only 36% of children with attendance lower than 90% in KS4 got 9 to 4 in their English and maths GCSEs, compared with 84% of regular attenders.
The NHS gives clear guidance which you can read here: Is my child too ill for school? A tummy ache, feeling tired, cold, cough or period pain are not reasons to stay at home. Only if your child’s temperature is above 38 degrees should you agree to a day off school.
We are working together with students and families to give every child the best chance possible to make excellent progress. Every moment matters. School matters.
