The future

Although 17 schools signed up to take part this year, Swinyard would like to see even more schools join in the future, to make this a truly borough-wide award. Schools wishing to take part should contact her at the school to join the mailing list. The award has also been set up without a budget and is looking for local companies and organisations to sponsor the award so that more children can benefit next year.

Integrated Sensory Art Project 2015

This year, Class 1 from the ASD Provision have been working every two weeks with the Nurture Group from mainstream on individual creative projects about themselves.

Each piece of work represents an interest important to each student and has been made using special materials that create a sensory element. The children worked to develop new and existing skills and to problem solve during constructions. The lessons created fantastic opportunities for integration, forming new friendships between students in the process.

Last week, on Parent’s Evening, an exhibition was hosted of work completed by students to which parents and staff were invited.

Big thanks to Ms Goddard, Ms Barker, Ms McCluskey, Mr Loizos and all the staff that helped with this project. Well done to all the students for this amazing achievement, we are very proud of you all.

Ms Martins
