Our year 11 students are working extremely hard as their exams get underway.Ā This is an updated version of the final exam timetable which was issued before Easter.
We are pleased to announce that Heartlands High School Summer School for our new students will take place at Heartlands High School this July/August. This is an extremely important stage of the transition process from Primary to Secondary school and one that we strongly recommend. It will allow students to become familiar with the school, the teachers and its SEARCH ethos in preparation for their September start with us.
Students will get the opportunity to make progress towards their targets in English and Maths as well as having taster sessions in a number of other subject areas. All students will have the opportunity to go on trips, take part in workshops from specific subject areas and develop their love of reading through our accelerated reading programme- Beyond Words.
Ā This year Summer School programme will run over two weeks with each day running from 10.00am until 14.00pm from Monday 20th July until Friday 31st August.Ā Students will not be asked to pay anything toward the summer school if they are free school meals; the cost for non-free school meals is Ā£150 for the ten day programme.
We hope this will be an enjoyable time for the students, giving them the confidence and positive experience of learning that will help them settle quickly and excel at Heartlands High School.
The Summer School is very popular with parents/carers and students alike. There is a high demand for the limited spaces available and to make sure that you avoid disappointmentĀ we ask that you complete the application form and return this on either Monday 27th/Tuesday 28th April when you attend your Transition Interview at Heartlands High School. Members of the HHS STEM Club had a busy half-term prior to the Easter break. They worked on renewable energy sources and alsoĀ started aĀ unit on ‘Rockets’, which will see the students research, design, experiment and finally build their own chemical-powered rockets.The photos show the students carrying out their research using water-powered rockets.
There are still places Ā available in the club, so if your wish to take part please speak to either Mr Scullion, Mr Kane or Ms Walczak.

Heartlands will close for the Easter holidays on Friday 27th March at 13:50. Ā School will finish for all year groups including Year 11, who will not have PE after school.
School re-opens on Monday 13th April.
