October 11th 2016 marked the UN International Day of the Girl, an opportunity to empower the future generation of women, celebrating their potential and enabling them to succeed, while demanding a world where girls and boys have equal opportunities.
Eight Year 10 Sociology students attended Women of the World (WOW) festival at the Southbank Centre, starting with an 8am mass speed mentoring session on the London Eye, seeing 250 London schoolgirls paired with 250 inspirational female mentors from a wide range of industries, everything from film to engineering, politics to sport, activism to fashion.
Students were invited to attend an inspirational afternoon of creative workshops, debates, discussions and performances at Southbank Centre. Covering the subject of female leadership and how to make a change, however big or small.
As part of the school’s enrichment curriculum, next year all students in Years 7 and 8 are being offered the opportunity to take part in a residential trip to an activity centre in Bude, Cornwall..
The centre offers a huge variety of activities including surfing, climbing, abseiling, canoeing and teambuilding to mention just a few. The trip will leave Heartlands on Monday the 27th March and return on Friday 31th March 2017.
A letter has been sent home with the students, please ensure reply slips are returned to the school’s Reception as soon as possible. If you have any queries, please contact Mr Adcock, Outdoor Education Coordinator, neil.adcock@heartlands.haringey.sch.uk

GCSE Results 2016
We are delighted with a fantastic set of GCSE results this year. This cohort has exceeded the excellent results achieved last year and we are extremely proud of all of our students’ achievements. These qualifications will enable Heartlands students to progress onto high quality Post 16 courses and, in future, to top universities and apprenticeships. We wish the 2016 cohort all the best in the next stage of their education and congratulate them on their outstanding achievement. I would like to thank our incredible staff who worked tirelessly to support students to achieve these results.
