The aim of the change is to make things more simple and clear, and to return to the one-hour model of lessons. Therefore from September 2015, the school day will run from 08.30 to 15:00 daily (including Fridays), with a change from a 20 to a 30-minute tutor session each day. There will continue to be a split lunch.

We had only a few comments, mostly based around the length of lunch-time. We have been monitoring the lunch queue closely and working with the Junior Leaders to improve the way in which the lunch queue runs, and have managed to pare down the length of time the students are having to queue. However, we are also clear that a 40-minute lunch allows us to run a better and calmer school day all round, so this will not be changed. Thank you.

Over the last term the school has been conducting a SEARCH day review, which involved staff, students and parent questionnaires.
The overwhelming results from all parties that SEARCH days had good learning outcomes and that the students valued and enjoyed them, but they were too frequent in the school calendar.
With this in mind we have decided to reduce the number of SEARCH days for the remainder of the academic year and the SEARCH days dates previously published have now been changed to the following below, which can be found on the school website.
SEARCH day 8 Wednesday 14th January
SEARCH day 9 Monday 9th February
SEARCH day 10 Wednesday 11th March
SEARCH day 11 Thursday 30th April
Year 10s have now received details of their work experience placements for the week beginning 12th January 2014. They are now setting up interviews and telephone calls to arrange their first day.
Best wishes to them all.
