We are delighted with a fantastic set of GCSE results this year. Students have worked incredibly hard to achieve some very impressive outcomes which represent great progress. We are especially pleased that 9 students were awarded the new top grade in English Literature and 3 students in Maths; this new grade 9, designed to sit above the traditional A* standard places them in the top 3% of students nationally. .
We wish the 2017 cohort all the best in the next stage of their education and congratulate them on their outstanding achievement.
I would like to thank our incredible staff who worked tirelessly to support students to achieve these results.
Elen Roberts
Head of School

This week we launched the Start project for 2016-17, a fantastic programme of gallery workshops and artist collaborations culminating in an exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. We took 30 fantastically talented year 8 students to the gallery where they experimented with a range of collaborative creative challenges exploring the theme of ‘Inclusion’. The students were superb: embracing challenge, working well in teams and producing some very exciting outcomes. We look forward to the next workshops in February.
As part of our Student Librarian programme, we took a selection of our huge team (how would the library run without them all?) on an aspirational trip to see a university library – Senate House Library.
We had a tour of the library, as well as being shown particular items from their collection to show their range and why different things are kept when others are not. We also learnt a little about what it is like to work there, and the different types of jobs within the organisation.
The building and collection are massive (you can see the tower behind the trees in the photos) and whereas some floors are open to University of London students (and the public!) most of the tower floors are request only by staff, as the shelves are so close together (to fit more books in). The building is often used for films because of its iconic design. It was designed by the same person as our local Southgate tube station!
We are very grateful to members of the library team for taking the time to show us around – Lisa Miller & Richard Espley.
Thank you to all who took part in the GCSE Certificate evening – it was a great success!
There are only seven days until the HHS Festive Concert! Tickets on sale NOW via ParentPay – £3 adults, £1 students.
Starting from 31st October, we are will be implementing a revised Home Learning model to ensure Home Learning tasks are completed on time and to the best of the student’s ability.
The expectations for home learning remain the same:
All home learning tasks will be set on Show My Homework. This week we are reissuing students with SMH logins as well as the Home Learning Timetable for this academic year. Both will enable you to monitor your son/daughter’s home learning and support them with managing their workload.
We will be adopting the Home Learning Sanction system, as outlined below:
October 11th 2016 marked the UN International Day of the Girl, an opportunity to empower the future generation of women, celebrating their potential and enabling them to succeed, while demanding a world where girls and boys have equal opportunities.
Eight Year 10 Sociology students attended Women of the World (WOW) festival at the Southbank Centre, starting with an 8am mass speed mentoring session on the London Eye, seeing 250 London schoolgirls paired with 250 inspirational female mentors from a wide range of industries, everything from film to engineering, politics to sport, activism to fashion.
Students were invited to attend an inspirational afternoon of creative workshops, debates, discussions and performances at Southbank Centre. Covering the subject of female leadership and how to make a change, however big or small.
