On Friday 13th June, 24 of our Year 10 students visited Clare College, Cambridge, to kick-start their 6-week course in conjunction with the Brilliant Club. Students participated in ‘University style’ seminars and lectures, with subject matter ranging from philosophical debates in ethics to cutting-edge research on individualised cancer treatments.
All participants were given the opportunity to explore the University campus in glorious sunshine, including a visit to a college library, college halls, and seeing students punt down the river Cam. Our Year 10s thoroughly enjoyed the day, gaining a deeper understanding of the university application process, student life and how to succeed in achieving their high aspirations. For the next 6 weeks, they will be attending tutorials lead by a PhD student, leading up to a university-style essay due in on Wednesday 6th August. if successfully submitted, this will be followed by a graduation trip to another University. How exciting!
Thank you to Ms Style and Mr Barker for escorting the students to Cambridge.
