Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral.
The official date of the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II is 19th September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and as with all bank holidays schools and colleges will be closed. Heartlands High School will be closed to all staff and students on this day.
School will be open as normal leading up to the event and reopen as normal on Tuesday 20th September 2022.
Take care
Mrs Roberts
Year 11 students at Heartlands High School are today celebrating a great set of results; students can collect their results from 10am this morning until 12pm or they will be emailed after 1pm. We have seen an increase in grade 5+ overall and specifically in Maths and Science. Students worked really hard and we are very proud of all they have achieved. This year group overcame huge adversity and challenges to arrive at brilliant outcomes! We are very very proud of them all!
Overall Heartlands students achieved 80 grade 9s! 6 students were awarded the top grade in Maths, 17 students in English, 11 across the sciences.
Our 2022 cohort will attend a range of high quality colleges, sixth forms and apprenticeships next year; we look forward to hearing of their continued success.
I would also like to thank our amazing staff who supported our students in achieving such excellent results.
Best wishes to them all for the furture

Anthony Billings, CEO of SEARCH Education Trust said ‘We are delighted with the results achieved at Heartlands High School this year. This is a real tribute to the resilience, tenacity and sheer grit of our students, teachers and support staff who have risen to the demands of the restored examination system and given their very best. We wish all of our students the very best as they enter the next phase of their education.’
Hello! We are looking forward to seeing you all in September. As below the start days and times for students.
- Friday 2nd September New year 7 students ONLY
- Monday 5th September all students in from 8.25-3pm
There will be no staggered starts or late starts for students as we have had to do in recent years due to COVID restrictions and testing!
A reminder you can find all term dates here: https://heartlands.haringey.sch.uk/about-us/term-important-dates/
We have been contacted by our families this week regarding the unauthorised occupancy of Wood Green common. A number of caravans and associated vehicles are now on the common without permission. Mrs Roberts has been in contact with the ward Councillors about this and reported this to the police.
The principle concerns are: there is no vehicle access to the site, this means cars and vans need to leave or mount the pedestrian walk way and cycle path used by our students. Secondly this is where we teach PE, without access to this we will have to dramatically reduce our PE curriculum. We will update you as needed but if you are concerned you can also contact your ward Councillor to raise questions or concerns. You can find out who you Councillor is HERE

The deadline has now passed to sign up for an end of year trip. If we have not received any payment your child will remain onsite for Rewards on Wednesday July 20th. Thankfully the weather on these days is looking much cooler!
Below are the times for the trips. Those on the trampoline trip will be sent an individual text with your start time. Please arrive promptly at school at the time of your trip: students will be released from school once the trip has finished.
If you have any further questions please contact Ms Martin niamh.martin@heartlands.haringey.sch.uk

I know many of you are worried about the hot weather forecast for Monday 18th and Tuesday 18th July. We are very lucky to have a fully air conditioned building. This means learning and inside areas are kept at cool, comfortable temperatures. We take the safety of students really seriously and just like when it is very cold we assess all our activities to ensure we can continue to education the students without unnecessary risk.
In line with the red weather warning we have made some changes for the areas we can not climate control:
- Blazers are NOT necessary in this weather, students can leave these at home. We are also allowing students to wear black, tailored shorts if they have them (skirts and trousers remain a choice and some students choose trousers in this weather for skin safety)
- PE curriculum has been altered to include only inside activities with lots of rest and water breaks. There will be no off site PE
- Students will be permitted outside in the covered areas only at break and lunch but they will be strongly encouraged to eat and sit inside
- Inside spaces will be available for students at break and lunch
- Food menu has been altered to be more suitable and we have bought in extra water
- Students will be regularly reminded to drink throughout the day
- Advice to children and staff altered to give advice for travel to and from school, the importance of hydration, how to get the best of the air con (closing doors etc)
Please read the full risk assessment here: Extreme heat Risk_Assessment.doc
On the last point we urge parents to make sure students take shaded routes to and from school and avoid public transport. All staff and students should all have a refillable water bottle and apply sun block before and after school.
Take care
Mrs Roberts
