Stem Club – It’s not rocket science…….or is it?

14th April 2015Ms A Farnum-Davies
The Stem Club
Members of the HHS STEM Club had a busy half-term prior to the Easter break. They worked on renewable energy sources and also started a unit on ‘Rockets’, which will see the students research, design, experiment and finally build their own chemical-powered rockets. The photos show the students carrying out their research using water-powered rockets.
There are still places  available in the club, so if your wish to take part please speak to either Mr Scullion, Mr Kane or Ms Walczak.

Headteacher’s Welcome

2nd April 2015Mr B Kennedy

PrintAt Heartland
s High School we want to create a real commitment to learning. In the short life of the school our students have made a big impact.

Our ethos in the school places our young people at the centre. We have high expectations of our students and expect them to do well. However, we also want them to enjoy their time at school.

Our system of houses ensures a healthy spirit of competition within the school as well as providing a first class support system for our students.

This ethos is captured in the word SEARCH. By reinforcing in our students the belief that school matters we encourage them to succeed through effort, responsibility, citizenship and high aspirations. We ask our students to SEARCH for SUCCESS and we take great pride in their achievements.

Our school develops partnerships that work. We know that our students find it much harder to succeed without the support of parents and carers. At Heartlands our aim is to create solid partnerships that build on success.

In a recent OfSTED, the Inspection team celebrated our relentless focus on learning. We are a determined school. We want the best for our students and the best for our community.

We hope you like what you read.

Challenge Partners

12th February 2015Miss C Dee

We are delighted with an excellent report from Challenge Partners about the standards of Achievement, Teaching, Partnerships and Leadership in the school.  Challenge Partners are an organisation who lead school improvement initiatives through collaboration between schools.  This half-term they completed an external review of the school and judged that we have ‘improved beyond the Good grade as judged by Ofsted in the school’s last inspection’ and that our school improvement strategies are ‘outstanding’.  We believe that consistently good and outstanding teaching at Heartlands has put us on a course to outstanding results in summer 2015 and it is very encouraging to have this confirmed by an external assessor.
