The DFE announced today that they are recommending face coverings to be used in secondary schools whilst Plan B is active. Below is the announcement from the Secretary of State for education made today. HHS will be adhering to this advice.  Please ensure your child has a face covering for school from 5th January 2022 for testing and to return to lessons on 6th. A reminder you need to give permission for testing HERE

We have a rising number of children claiming exemption from face coverings.  We remind you that exemption is applied to those who are likely to suffer severe distress or physical discomfort if they wear a mask.  We will best protect each other if we all wear masks.  Please email if you believe your child to be exempt explaining why (even if you have done this before)

Updated guidance on the use of face coverings in education settings

From today, Sunday 2 January, it is recommended that face coverings are worn in classrooms where pupils in year 7 and above are educated. The advice is short term only, to support pupils and teachers as they return to school this term and builds on the existing proportionate guidance that recommends face coverings for all adults in communal areas of all settings. We are updating our guidance to reflect this. The advice on face coverings in classrooms will be in place until Wednesday 26 January, when Plan B regulations are currently scheduled to expire, at which point it will be reviewed.
