On Thursday 12th May, 10am – 12.30pm the Occupational Therapy Service in Haringey will host a virtual session, discussions will be based around sensory differences in children from the perspective of Occupational Therapy, why some children have sensory processing differences and what can be done to support these children.
Haringey SEND Parent Carer Forum holds a Walk and Talk every first Monday of the month for parents and carers of children and young people with SEND.
Each month they go to a different park in Haringey, have a healthy walk and talk and then do some more talking over coffee and cake! Parents and carers can meet other parents and share ideas, views and experiences with each other and with parent reps who attend strategic local authority meetings like the SEND Executive Board.
As the first Monday in May is a bank holiday, the next Walk and Talk will be next week Tuesday 3rd May, 11.30am – 12.30pm in Markfield Park. The meeting point is Markfield, where SENDIASS is.

VACANCY
PARENT LOCAL GOVERNOR ON THE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY
We have provision for a Parent Local Governor to be part of the Local Governing Body.
Parents and Carers are now invited to nominate and elect a new Parent Local Governor to join the Heartlands High School Local Governing Body. An elected Parent Local Governor must be a parent or a person who has parental responsibilities of a student registered at Heartlands High School.
The vision is for all our students to develop a commitment to learning; teaching students that effort is essential, achievement will carry them forward, active citizenship matters and that none of this can be achieved without the highest of aspirations.
The role of a Parent Local Governor is an exciting and important opportunity to take an active role in the governance of the school; enabling that vision to become a reality through ensuring high standards of achievement for all, contributing to strategic discussions and holding school leaders to account by monitoring school performance and ensuring money is well spent.
Closing date for nominations is 9.00 am on 20th January 2022

The DFE announced today that they are recommending face coverings to be used in secondary schools whilst Plan B is active. Below is the announcement from the Secretary of State for education made today. HHS will be adhering to this advice. Please ensure your child has a face covering for school from 5th January 2022 for testing and to return to lessons on 6th. A reminder you need to give permission for testing HERE
Exemption
We have a rising number of children claiming exemption from face coverings. We remind you that exemption is applied to those who are likely to suffer severe distress or physical discomfort if they wear a mask. We will best protect each other if we all wear masks. Please email office@heartlands.haringey.sch.uk if you believe your child to be exempt explaining why (even if you have done this before)
Updated guidance on the use of face coverings in education settings
From today, Sunday 2 January, it is recommended that face coverings are worn in classrooms where pupils in year 7 and above are educated. The advice is short term only, to support pupils and teachers as they return to school this term and builds on the existing proportionate guidance that recommends face coverings for all adults in communal areas of all settings. We are updating our guidance to reflect this. The advice on face coverings in classrooms will be in place until Wednesday 26 January, when Plan B regulations are currently scheduled to expire, at which point it will be reviewed.
